Heartbreaking Video Shows Baby Elephant Trying To Wake His Dead Mother Who Was Killed By Villagers
Elephants have a strong family bond. They are known to have strong memories and they mourn their loved ones. When the mother of a baby elephant died, it tried its best to wake her up. The mother was poisoned by villagers in Sri Lanka - the same place where a circus elephant was starved to death, which created worldwide outrage.
Reportedly, as many as seven elephants were killed as the angry villagers revenged the ¡®raiding of farms¡¯ in Sri Lanka.
Four dead elephants were found at a forest reserve near Sigiriya, a UNESCO-protected heritage site, and three more were discovered later. Police spokesman Ruwan Gunasekera reportedly said, ¡°We have found the remains of seven cow elephants since Friday."
One of the elephants that was killed was pregnant. In the video, a baby elephant can be seen trying to wake its dead mother, not leaving her side. The heartbreaking video is going viral and sparking outrage. It seems like killing of elephants, in Sri Lanka, is a regular affair.
All the elephants that were found dead were reportedly between the age of 10 to 15. This is an outrageous act and there should be adequate punishment.
