Wildlife Officials Shoot Baby Bear For Being 'Too Friendly' & Eating Tourists' Leftover Food
A baby bear has been shot and killed in Washington for becoming &lsquotoo friendly&rsquo with the tourists and eating the leftover food they give it. The heartbreaking incident took place at Scoggins Valley Park in Washington USA Wildlife biologist Kurt Licence reportedly attempted to trap and relocate the bear. He also warned tourists about the dangers of feeding wild animals.
Human beings are supposed to be more sensitive than other creatures that roam the planet. But there is overwhelming evidence to prove, that most of us are anything but sensitive. The way we treat animals shows how we have failed to live up to being human.
From jabbing wild animals with spokes to 'training' them in inhuman conditions, just so we can derive pleasure from them, by posing with them for selfies, we've done it all. Poaching, hunting for sport and mistreating wild animals to domesticate them - all of this has become way too common.
In the never-ending list of atrocities we have committed against animals, a baby bear has been shot and killed in Washington for becoming ¡®too friendly¡¯ with the tourists and eating the leftover food they give it. The heartbreaking incident took place at Scoggins Valley Park in Washington, USA. Wildlife biologist Kurt Licence reportedly attempted to trap and relocate the bear, who was found with piles of food, including trail mix, sunflower seeds, and cracked corn.
In a statement, Licence also said it was unfortunate that the situation turned out the way it did, but warned tourists about the dangers of feeding wild animals. He said, "This is a classic example of why we implore members of the public not to feed bears."
Earlier this month, the police was also alerted about the issue after receiving calls about the young male posing for pictures with the visitors.
Washington County Sheriff's Office and wildlife officials at Oregon Department of Fish started receiving calls on June 4, about the friendly behaviour of the baby bear. But they stepped in last week after visitors were found to be leaving piles of food for the animal.
On June 11, officers received reports that the bear had drawn huge crowds of people to the boating area of the park. Conscious of the danger it could cause, the authorities tweeted a warning to the public, urging people not to be drawn by its sweet looks or to pose for selfies with it, as numerous people had.
The tweet read ¡®Deputies are working to get this bear cub near Hagg Lake to go back into the woods¡ please stay away from the area near Boat Ramp A.¡¯

According to OregonLive, officers managed to move the bear away from the boating area and put back into the woods, only for it to return the next day. Sadly, when it came back, it was shot dead by the authorities.
"While the individuals who put food out for this bear may have had good intentions bears should never, ever be fed. It was very clear that the animal was way too habituated. With that information, it was a human health and safety risk, and we had to remove it."
Officials also said that when an animal becomes too comfortable with the humans, the officials cannot relocate them as it increases the chances of dangerous encounters. They also said that feeding it the food meant for humans could also have been dangerous and made it sick.
Mr Licence added, "It's never a good idea to feed wild animals. They are perfectly capable of fending for themselves, and it's always better to leave them alone and enjoy them from a safe distance."
