A Proud Moment: Picture Shows Andhra Pradesh Circle Inspector Saluting His DSP Daughter

Every victory and achievement becomes extra special when it makes parents proud. A picture of one such special moment has been doing rounds of the Internet - it shows a proud father saluting his daughter who is a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) cadre in Andhra Pradesh.

In a tweet, the Andhra Pradesh Police shared the rare and heartwarming incident with the caption ¡®AP Police 1st Duty Meet brings a family together!¡¯

According to reports, Prashanti, an engineering graduate belongs to the 2018 batch DSPs. She is among those from the first batch of DSPs that trained Andhra Pradesh after the bifurcation of the State, and cracked the Andhra Pradesh Public Commission Group 1; she is currently the Guntur Urban South DSP.

The News Minute quoted her as saying that she wasn¡¯t very comfortable when she noticed her father saluting her. ¡°This is the first time that we met on duty. I wasn¡¯t very comfortable with him saluting me, after all he¡¯s my father. I asked him not to salute me, but it happened. I also returned the salute,¡± she said.

¡°My father is my major inspiration. I¡¯ve grown up seeing him serving the people relentlessly. He has helped many people in whatever way he could. That¡¯s what made me choose this department. I have a very positive outlook towards the department,¡± she shared.

In a similar incident, last year, a photo of a proud father checking the stars on his daughter¡¯s uniform went viral.

¡°Rattana Ngaseppam, Deputy SP from Imphal, Manipur¡­Her proud dad checking out the stars on her uniform. And #Rattana proudly watching the stars in her father¡¯s eyes,¡± a user commented while attaching a photo of her on Twitter. Contrary to the viral tweet, the police officer is not a DSP but an additional SP with the Manipur Police.

Back in 2018. AR Umamaheswara Sarma, a Deputy Commissioner in the Telangana Police, was seen saluting his daughter as she was senior in rank.

The two came face to face while doing their duty at the public meeting of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) at Kongara Kalan, on the outskirts of Hyderabad.

Both were deployed in the security arrangement of the rally which was addressed by Telangana Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao.

Sarma began his career as sub-inspector and was recently conferred the IPS rank. He said he felt proud to salute his daughter as his senior officer.
