A food delivery executive in China is being hailed as a hero after saving the life of a suicidal customer. The incident took place in Henan Province.
The customer had left an ominous note while placing his food order, which read: "The last meal in my life." When the delivery guy arrived at the customer's place, no one answered the bell. Suspecting that something was not right, he alerted the police, Global Times reported.
When the police and firemen arrived, the man refused to open the door and threatened to jump out of the window.
The cops persuaded him to calm down while the firemen quietly slid into the room and saved him, the report said.
The man, who had taken a large number of sleeping pills, was starting to lose consciousness when rescuers managed to enter his apartment in the time and pulled him away from danger.
After taking the man to the hospital, the police also contacted his parents to talk to him.
The man was said to have attempted suicide after facing relationship issues and failed investments, as per AsiaOne citing local reports.
The police thanked the food delivery man for finding the suicidal man in time.
This isn't the first time a delivery driver has played a hero.
An Amazon driver is being praised after footage emerged showing her standing between a customer's daughter and an enraged pit bull.
The delivery driver named Stephanie Lontz had been making holiday drop-offs around suburban Las Vegas when she saw 19-year-old Lauren Ray screaming as she was coming under attack from the animal who was biting her own dog.
In the video footage that was captured on customer Michael Ray's doorbell camera, Lauren can be seen grabbing her own dog, which had come under attack from the pit bull and then rushing inside with it under her arm.
This is when Stephanie stands in front of the aggressive pit bull, jumping from side to side to stop it from going after Lauren, as she yells ¡°bad dog!¡± at it.
Later, Stephanie was reunited with Lauren and her family, who thanked the Amazon driver for her bravery. "I didn't have enough time to say thank you. I was just shaken up but I'm so glad I got to see you again and it means a lot to me," Lauren Ray told Fox5.
The amazon driver said stepping in was the instinctive thing to do and she was ¡°just glad¡± to be able to help.
