A nail-biting footage shows Tesla autopilot swerving on an icy road in a bid to avoid hitting a moose.

Dashcam footage shows the smart vehicle, a Tesla Model S, quickly turning to the side after its on-board camera spotted the wild animal in it's path.

According to MailOnline, the incident took place in Sweden and the car could steer between the adult moose and her calves- which were following it - and then stabilise itself after going into a slide on the icy road;- it was left without a scratch.
The Tesla driver, named David, uses cat-like reactions to swerve around the moose and avoids catastrophe.
As seen in the video, the car fishtails dangerously but it soon straightens out thanks in part to some clever technology on the vehicle.
David later posted on Facebook: 'I can barely believe it to be true myself. And that I also managed it without visiting a workshop'.

Apparently, a car test originated in Sweden called 'the Moose test' during which cars have to swerve around a set of cones, to simulate a moose walking into the road.
The ¡°moose test¡± is an evasive maneuver test that consists of determining how well a certain vehicle can evade a suddenly appearing obstacle that could take an entire lane, like a moose.

Swedish car-makers Saab and Volvo both use this test when making their vehicles.
Apart from this, many Tesla owners have drawn flak for abusing the autopilot feature and literally dozing off while driving.

Full self-driving is more advanced and also offers additional features like Navigate on Autopilot, Auto Lane Change, Autopark, Summon, and Traffic Light and Stop Sign Control.

The drivers must still remain ready to take over at any time. But many still take this warning lightly. More recently, a driver and passenger were both caught sleeping in a moving Tesla car. Although it was shared recently from the following handle, other sources suggest the video is from 2019.
