Wedding venues can be a massive headache when it comes to planning the big day. Beachside or mountain view, cosy or grand, expensive or affordable, the choices are endless when it's time to book a venue for your wedding. But this American couple hands down had the best idea for their big day.
Elderly Couple Select Grocery Store As Wedding Venue
An elderly couple from Arizona, U.S., decided that the perfect place to say their vows to each other would be the place they met each other for the first time. Now, for most people, these places are likely to be restaurants, cafes, or even a park but for Brenda Williams and Dennis Delgado, such a simple place was not the pick.
The couple first met in a supermarket and thought it best to tie the knot at the alley they first laid eyes on each other. The 72- and 78-year-old first met last year at the Fry's Food and Drug Store in Casa Grande, according to LADBible. The couple thought that the aisle they first met at was the perfect place to walk down as the wedding march is played.
In the August of 2021, Dennis found Brenda as she was grabbing some mayonnaise. Brenda talked about the moment and shared, ¡°I'm walking down the aisle, and someone comes up behind me, and says¡¡± when Dennis chimed in, ¡°You know the best thing about wearing a mask?...You could pass these [people] not wearing a mask, and curse them out under your breath, they don't hear a word you're saying.¡±
The Elderly Bride Wanted To 'Go Out With A Bang'
After the two hit it off, they talked for around half an hour and later exchanged numbers. The two met again when Dennis joined Brenda at her church the next Sunday. The elderly couple bonded over their shared loss of their partners who both passed away tragically. After some time together, the two got engaged in April 2022. Brenda asked her fiance to propose to her at the same grocery store aisle they first met in.
She recounted, ¡°I said we met there. He wants to propose to me, and I want him to do it in the condiment aisle where we met." She added, "I said, 'well, we don¡¯t have that many more years. Let¡¯s just do something dumb and stupid. Go out with a bang.'"
