After Indian Air Force operation against terrorist camps in Pakistan's Balakot, PAF intruded into Indian air space targeting military installations, this morning.
The Indian Air Force retaliated to this intrusion. In the ensuing battle a Pakistani F 16 was downed by an IAF Mig 21 Bis aircraft.
Unfortunately, IAF also lost a Mig 21 in the process, lost to ground based anti aircraft fire. The MEA and IAF joint briefing confirmed that an Indian pilot is missing in action.
Though he was not named, the pilot's name is Wing Commander Abhinandan. In an alleged video doing the rounds on the internet, the pilot is seen bleeding from his forehead, his eyes covered by a cloth.
Despite having ejected and hurting himself, he's seen talking calmly, giving out the only information he is supposed to - his name, rank and number.

On being asked his squadron, he refuses to divulge information.
According to our sources, Wing Commander Abhinandan was a member of the SKAT - Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team, which means he's a skilled pilot.
His father is ex-Indian Air Force officer.
The Indian Air Force also lost a Mi 17V helicopter in which four lives were lost.
On February 26, Indian Air Force in a night time operation carried out raids in Pakistan's Balakot, which was home to the biggest JeM terrorist training camp and destroyed the facility. It is said that about 300 terrorists were killed in the raid. The operation was carried out after intel inputs regarding the terror outfit that carried out the fatal suicide attack on CRPF soldiers in Pulwama.
