Facebook Glitch Starts Exposing Users And Their Stalking Habits, People Abandon Their Accounts
A sudden glitch in Meta's Facebook platform ended up exposing a bunch of its users and their stalking, which led to many shutting down their accounts.
An embarrassing glitch on Facebook recently led users to rush in and deactivate their accounts. The glitch somehow exposed users and their stalking habits, which obviously became really embarrassing real fast, leading people to ditch their accounts on the platform.
Facebook Users Get Exposed By A Surprise Glitch
The glitch weirdly made it possible for friend requests to automatically be sent to profiles of people you have previously viewed. This meant that if you have a special someone you have been stalking (non-creepily) for a while, they would have gotten wind of your daily check-ins on their profile.
A Twitter user warned people to be wary of the glitch and wrote, "Umm... you might want to avoid clicking on user profiles on Facebook for a bit. it's auto-sending friend requests."

The helpful user attached a screen-recorded video that showed how the platform was auto-sending requests to people if they viewed their profile. The person warned others about social media sleuthing with their hard-hitting evidence.
Folks Took To Twitter To Share Their Reactions To The Glitch
People chimed in and reacted to the tweet. One user wrote, "I was wondering why i kept getting ¡®x has accepted your friend request¡¯ throughout the day."

While one wrote, ¡°Mine was doing the opposite. It was declining a request. My partner and I tested it out. We removed each other then I would send her a request and in a few minutes if I checked her profile, it would state ¡®add friend.¡¯¡±

Another wondered, ¡°What if @Meta will add a feature of 'Who viewed my profile' just like Friendster instead of this auto- friend request? I hope this is not true.¡±

A spokesperson for the platform said in a statement to The Daily Beast that the glitch had been resolved and things were back to normal on the platform.
They said, ¡°We fixed a bug related to a recent app update that caused some Facebook friend requests to be sent mistakenly. We've stopped this from happening and we apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.¡±
