'Share If You Can Spare': Family Puts Up A 'Free Pantry' For Those In Need Of Basic Essentials
The world witnessed a lot of panic-buying when nations went into a state of lockdown for several weeks. People were rushing to grocery stores and supermarkets to stock up on essentials and things started getting out of hand when everyone just bought way too much, leaving nothing for others. This has led to supermarkets housing empty shelves and families in desperate need of basic essentials.
To help those out in need, a family in Wisconsin decided to share their pantry with the rest of their neighbourhoood. They opened up a 'free pantry' in their front yard from where anyone can come and pick up basic necessities.
Terry Uribe Gall shared her family's 'free pantry' picture on Facebook with the caption, 'Inspired by positivity, my family & I would like to help out as much as we can during these trying times. We made a mini pantry on our front lawn located on 78th n Beloit, across the street from McCarty Park. Please stop by & donate if you can or if you¡¯re in need!'
She mentioned how people are more than welcome to donate to their pantry so that the needy can come come and take what they require. She shared the address so that people from other areas can also have access to the pantry.
She also added, 'I¡¯m not posting this to get praise, but to inspire others to reach out a helping hand & to let people who are affected by the COVID-19 pandemic know that they are not alone. We will get through this together!'
In the picture Gall shared, you can see that the pantry is stocked up with canned goods and non-perishables so that the items do not go bad and can last for a while.
The pantry also features a collection of books so that people can keep themselves busy while being on lockdown.
Such initiatives make you believe in the goodness of people and the need for more such selfless deeds. During a global problem like this, we need to help each other as much as we can.
