Life throws challenges at everyone but it is the will of the person that determines his or her future. Months after this SSLC student lost his home to a fire, Thimmappa B, also lost all his study material, reported Bangalore Mirror.
Being the son of a guest worker from North Karnataka, his resources were limited as there was a fire at a slum near Kacharakanahalli which burnt his home and belongings.
However, even after losing his books, the student still managed to score 60 per cent marks in his exams.
Thimmappa and his family had gone to their hometown in May and when they returned, they saw that their hut had been set ablaze by miscreants.

Thimmappa said, ¡°I thought all is over since it is not easy to prepare for the SSLC exam without text books and notebooks. I managed to score 60 per cent in the SSLC exam. I would have scored more had the miscreants not done what they did".
On August 12, Thimmappa was feliciated by Karnataka Child Rights Commission Chairman Dr Antony Sebastian. The chairman travelled all the way to the slum to honour Thimmappa for clearing his exams.

¡°I am happy to be felicitated by Dr Antony Sebastian who helped to get textbooks for me,¡± Thimmappa added.
He has been working as a construction worker during his holidays and wants to become an army officer in the future. He said, ¡°I am confident of becoming an army officer. It is my ambition and dream".

Recently, the Karnataka High Court directed the government to provide financial assistance to the slum-dwellers to reconstruct their burnt homes.
