Love Is Love: This Transgender Couple From Kerala Is All Set To Get Married!
Atharv and Heidi will be the fourth couple from the transgender community to marry. Atharv had gone to gift a cake sent by his adopted mother Surya to her friend Renju Renjimar on her birthday. He met Renju's adopted daughter Heidi.
A birthday celebration on November 27 changed the lives of two people.
Atharv had gone to gift a cake sent by his adopted mother Surya to her friend Renju Renjimar on her birthday at Dwaya (the transgender community in Aluva, Kerala where he met Renju¡¯s adopted daughter Heidi).
According to the New Indian Express, their friendship grew when they interacted more on social media and at community events. After sometime, Atharv proposed to Heidi, who was studying electronic journalism at the Institute of Journalism in Thiruvananthapuram, in December.
They will be the fourth couple from the transgender community to marry after Surya-Ishan, Tripti-Hrithik and Tista-Dipan. Surya and Ishan were the first transgender couple to marry and they celebrated their first anniversary in May.
¡°We always look for love which has been denied to us since childhood. Through this marriage we want to convey the message that we are no different from others,¡± said Heidi. ¡°I want to do MPhil and PhD in media studies. In Atharv I find the right companion,¡± she added.
She also said that the date of marriage has not been fixed yet as she is focusing on her career for now. She is the first transgender to enroll for a journalism course at the institute.
Atharv is a post-graduate in commerce and works as an accountant in a city shop. ¡°Transgenders should not step back from leading a normal life and instead should be a role model for others,¡± he said.
It is good that transgenders are coming forward and getting married to live a normal life with their partner.
