A young man seemingly fed-up over the beatings his mother received from her abusive boyfriend, fatally shot him twice at a New York apartment.
The unidentified shooter remains at large, New York Daily News reported.
Police arrived at Parsons Boulevard¡¯s Pomonoc House on the fourth floor of an apartment on 65th Avenue at around 7:20 pm on Tuesday. They found a 47-year-old man shot in the head and chest at the address.
Medics took him to New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital, but he couldn¡¯t be saved.
¡°He deserved it. He was always beating on that woman. He was drinking every day and putting his hands on her and her son,¡± a family friend who lives downstairs told New York Daily News.
¡°There were two shots, and then the police came knocking," he added.
Before the shooting, police already responded to a domestic incident between the mother and her boyfriend in 2018, the report said.
It wasn¡¯t clear if the son interrupted an assault on his mother when he shot the man, or if he¡¯d just had enough of the abuse, police sources said.
Police didn¡¯t immediately release the names of the victim or the suspected shooter.
A similar incident occurred last year in Detroit, Michigan, where a 14-year-old boy shot and killed her mother¡¯s boyfriend when he threatened to kill his mother.
Police officials had said that the fight broke out between the teen's 34-year-old mother and a 38-year-old man, who reportedly was her boyfriend, just after midnight. The juvenile, Detroit police said, was detained and the weapon has been recovered.
