What would you do if you saw a big bear? Run? Maybe scream?
But what if someone you loved was in peril? For one man, the answer to this question was very clear, when he saw that his pet was in danger.

According to reports, he was at home when he heard a strange noise coming from the garden. He moved outside to inspect the source of the sound and saw his pitbull, Buddy, being dragged away on the ground by a massive brown bear.
Without a second thought, Benham went straight for the big bear and grabbed its throat. He started throwing punches in the bear's face and eye. The huge animal finally let go of the dog and his owner pulled him away to safety.
"I heard a growl, looked about 75-100 feet down, and the bear was dragging him by his head, had his head in his mouth. Honestly, the only thing I could think of was 'save my baby'. I just ran down there, plowed into the bear, tackled it, and grabbed it by the throat and started hitting it in the face and the eye until it let go," Kaleb told CBS.
Benham also said there were no vets available immediately as it was the night before Thanksgiving.
¡°My first thought was that I was going to lose him,¡± Benham told the station.
Fortunately, he was able to find an animal hospital and Buddy was taken for surgery - he received several staples and stitches for his injuries and had tubes inserted into his head to drain some excess fluid.
¡°I just stood there and watched through the window for 3.5 hours,¡± Benham added.

Thankfully, Buddy is recovering well now, all thanks to his loving parent.
However, Benham is worried as the bear has been back on the property since the attack.
¡°It made an attack and had it¡¯s food and it¡¯s food got taken from it and it wants it back, I feel like,¡± Benham, who rescued Buddy from a shelter several years ago said.
Benham is all ready to take on the bear once again if he tries to attack Buddy. He said, ¡°If it was your kid, what would you do. That¡¯s my kid, I would die for my dog.¡±
