In a heartwarming gesture, one Muslim man decided to print his daughter's wedding card with photographs of Lord Ganesh and Radha and Krishna alongside a line that read 'chand mubarak.'
"I thought it would be a good idea to showcase the Hindu-Muslim amity, especially when communal hatred is gaining ground. My friends have reacted very positively to the initiative," said Mohd Sarafat.
However, for his relatives and Muslim friends, he has printed another wedding card in Urdu. "Many of my relatives cannot read Hindi and for them I have printed cards in Urdu as well," he added.
Sarafat is not alone in his effort to bridge communities through heartwarming gestures. Amidst all the hatred, chaos and violence, there were many instances of unity, love between the two communities.
On February 25, a religious structure in Ashok Nagar was set on fire by a mob. The next day, people, both Hindus and Muslims, were spotted collecting burnt pages of a holy book in a video that has gone viral.
A local BJP ward councillor from Yamuna Vihar came forward to help a Muslim family and saved their house from being torched by a mob.
According to a report by India Today, the mob set ablaze a Muslim family's car and bike in Yamuna Vihar and also torched their tenant's boutique. This is when a local BJP leader came to the rescue and prevented the mob from causing harm.
In another instance, Hindus and Muslims took out a joint march in Delhi¡¯s Brijpuri locality against hate-mongers who tried to kick up communal riots in the area.
