62-YO Gujarati Woman Opens Dairy At Home, Sells Rs 1 Crore Worth Of Milk In A Year

If you know how to do a job right and have a penchant for business, you can literally milk it for money. That is what Navalben Dalsangbhai Chaudhary, a 62-year-old woman from Gujarat has done, and now she is an inspiration for many.

Navalben, who hails from the village of Nagana in the district of Banaskantha, defied all odds, to cause a mini-revolution in her district. According to reports, she made a record by selling milk worth Rs 1.10 crore in 2020, earning a profit of Rs 3.50 lakh per month. In 2019, she sold Rs 87.95 lakh worth of milk.

Last year, Navalben started a milk company at her home. Now, she's got over 80 buffaloes and 45 cows that cater to the milk needs of people in several villages.

The 62-year-old says she has four sons but they earn much less than her. ¡°I have four sons who are studying and working in cities. I run a dairy of 80 buffaloes and 45 cows. In 2019, I sold milk worth Rs 87.95 lakh and was the first in the Banaskantha district in this case. I am also number one by selling milk worth Rs 1 crore 10 lakh in 2020,¡± she said.

Navalben, who milks her cows every morning, now has fifteen employees working at the dairy for her.

A list of '10 Millionaire Rural Women Entrepreneurs' was published by Amul Dairy Chief Executive Officer RS Sodhi on Twitter in August last year. In the financial year 2019-20, these women, involved in dairy farming and animal husbandry, received lakhs of rupees by selling milk to Amul. The President recognised the role of empowered women in the success of the world-renowned cooperative society.

In the list, Navalben was featured with Rs 87,95,900.67 as her earnings, by selling 221595.6 kilograms of milk that year. She earned the highest among all the 10 women.

She also received two Lakshmi Awards and three Best Pashupalak Awards for her achievements in the field of dairy farming in Banaskantha district, in addition to the aforementioned recognition.

60 is the average age at which people are inclined to retire, but Navalben is running a highly successful and lucrative business, feeding not only herself but her employees. More power to her!
