She had been growing her hair since she was six years old and it had reached the length of 200 centimeters in July 2020. She has now cut it off and has decided to display it in Guinness World Records Museum.
Nilanshi Patel is an 18-year-old girl from Gujarat's Modasa. She has held the record for the longest hair on a teenager since 2018. When she was 16 years old, her hair measured 170.5 centimetres.
Her hair was measured for the last time in July 2020, right before her 18th birthday. It had reached the length of 200 centimeters. She was given the title of longest hair ever on a teenager.
However, now the young woman decided to cut off her long locks. She told Guinness World Records, "My hair gave me a lot - because of my hair I am known as the 'real-life Rapunzel'... now it¡¯s time to give it something back."

She had been growing her hair since she was six years old after going through a bad experience at a salon. Her mother used to help dry and comb her hair after every week's wash.
She took her sweet time to decide what she was going to do with her locks. She had three options which included - auctioning it off, donating it to charity for cancer patients, or donating it to a museum.
Her mother Kaminiben suggested she display her hair in a museum as her record-breaking story was inspiring. Kaminiben then told her that she would donate her own hair for cancer patients.
"I'm so excited and a little bit nervous because I don't know how I'm looking in the new hairstyle... so let's see what happens, but I hope it's going to be amazing," Nilanshi said just before getting her first haircut in 12 years.
When the first lock was cut, she kissed her hair goodbye.
"I love my new hairstyle. I feel proud that I¡¯m going to send my hair to the US museum- people will see and be inspired by my hair. I¡¯m really, really happy¡ Today is a new beginning and I hope I will break many more records in the future," Nilanshi said.
