Pained To See Helpless Migrant Man Journey Barefoot In The Heat, Journalist Gives Him His Shoes
BBC journalist Salman Ravi recently spoke to a group of migrant workers who were on their way to Chhatarpur on foot. They had been walking from Ambala, Haryana, for 6 days straight. Heartbroken by the sight of a barefoot man, the journalist shared his own shoes.
Migrant workers are undoubtedly the hardest hit amid the ongoing lockdown; with loss of income and homes, many have no choice but to take on an arduous journey back home on foot.

According to the video that's doing the rounds on social media, BBC journalist Salman Ravi recently spoke to a group of migrant workers who were on their way to Chhatarpur on foot.

The journalist noticed how one of the labourers was barefoot. He asked him where his slippers were. The labourer said that his slippers had torn. Without a second thought, the journalist takes off his shoes and asks the migrant worker to check if it fits him.
In the video, the labourers reveal that they have been walking for six days. They also claimed that they were beaten by the police while attempting to cross state borders.

In a follow-up tweet, Ravi also said that with the help of Faridabad police, he was able to find shelter for the labourers.
For the migrants who are struggling for days on end, the smallest gestures matter and people like Salman Ravi prove that a little help goes a long way.
