Australian Teen Out Fishing With Friends Catches 2.8-metre Bull Shark

A teenager all of 15-year-old hooked a 2.8-metre bull shark in Sydney Harbour, Australia. Addison Hodge was fishing along with his friends when he surprisingly caught the massive fish. Would it have been wiser to release the apex predator back into the water, is something that remains unanswered.

Initially, the teenager caught a much smaller fish called a Frigate Mackerel before he released it back into the water. However, after that, he felt a very sharp pull on his fishing rod post which he spent over 45 minutes trying to battle the bull shark.

He said, "I had so much adrenaline running through my body,' he said. 'It was incredible to see the bull shark up close. They are nothing like the ones you see at the Sydney Aquarium that's for sure."

Local site Mosman Collective captured the entire episode and shows Addison locked in an intense game of tug-of-war with the humongous creature. He said, ¡°It only took a few seconds to work out that I¡¯d hooked something pretty big. The thing nearly pulled me into the water.¡±

He said he was surprised by the creature's rough skin and 'tiny little eyes' and observed that in their natural habitat, bull sharks are nothing like the ones you see at Sydney Aquarium.

"At first we thought it was 2.5 metres, but when we measure it, the thing was 2.8 metres, and I reckon it was easily 140 kilograms."

The 15-year-old is a regular fisherman and is part of the Department of Primary Industry (DPI) tagging program, which tags various fish species to track their growth patterns, movement habits, interactions with other species and is used to understand and manage fish populations.
