The Inspiring Journey Of '6 Pack Band,' India's 1st Transgender Band That's Come A Long Way
6 Pack Band made its debut in 2016 with its cover version of Pharrell Williams Happy. The band comprises six members - Fida Khan Ravina Jagtap Asha Jagtap Chandni Suvarnakar Komal Jagtap and Bhavika Patil. They have received international recognition with the only Indian performance at the Cannes festival in 2017.
Back in 2016, a musical group '6 Pack Band' made a smashing debut with its cover version of Pharrell Williams' "Happy". And since then the band made up of the third gender has come a long way!
The band comprising six members - Fida Khan, Ravina Jagtap, Asha Jagtap, Chandni Suvarnakar, Komal Jagtap and Bhavika Patil - has been a game changer in India's entertainment industry.

For the uninitiated, Y-Films, the youth entertainment division of Bollywood powerhouse studio Yash Raj Films, was the brain behind the formation of this band.
According to an Indian Express report, the six were chosen out of the 200 odd people who auditioned to be a part in 2016.
During the launch of the Indianised cover of the Pharrell Williams hit song Happy in 2016 Ashish Patil, who heads Y-Films, told Scroll, ¡°We see eunuchs at traffic signals begging for a living. No one hires them; there is no dignity for them as they are abandoned by family and society.¡±

The band has received international recognition with the only Indian performance at the Cannes festival in 2017, and winners of the Cannes Grand Prix Glass Lions Award and nine Emvies Awards.
6 Pack Band also featured in a track for the Anushka Sharma-Salman Khan starrer, Sultan. Titled Raula Paye Gaya, the track they sang along with Rahet Fateh Ali Khan.
They also perform at numerous corporates, universities, and forums to break the stigma surrounding the third gender.
