You know how there are those complicated relationships where a child¡¯s father is also his uncle? Well in one case a child¡¯s father is actually his mother and no we are not saying ke ¡®baap ne ma ka bhi role nibhaya¡¯.
Seth Marlow, a transgender born a female, transitioned to male when he was 25. At 41, he swapped his testosterone for estrogen so that he could use his own egg to conceive a baby.
Seth Marley is from Roanoke, Virginia. He and his wife, Leah, decided to have a family and that¡¯s when Seth switched the male hormone for the female one, so that he could generate eggs again.
The couple managed to freeze quite a few embryos using Seth¡¯s eggs and donor sperm and one of them was implanted in Leah¡¯s uterus and viola, popped out little Arlo.
Seth talked about his journey, to the New York Post. He told how he has transitioned from female to male 16 years ago, and got a double mastectomy.
"I thought my transition had cost me my fertility and the path to a family," he said. "I longed for ¡ª but never thought ¡ª I would have my own biological child. But, as soon as Leah and I got serious and I suggested this course of action, she said: 'I¡¯m in!'"
"It certainly wasn't easy, even if it was ultimately rewarding,¡± Seth reportedly said, and also mentioned that the whole process took a 'psychological toll' on him.
When he stopped taking testosterone and switched to estrogen, apart from generating eggs, it did other things to his body too - he started redeveloping feminine curves and also got his period.
Once the deed was done Seth switched back to taking testosterone.
¡°Arlo has two genetic fathers. He's a pretty unique kid,¡± Seth said. The couple intends to have more children as they still have 13 frozen embryos.
Talk about miracles!
