A Team Of 10 Women In Delhi Are Cooking & Distributing Free Food To Help Families Hit By COVID-19
Nisha Chopra started the initiative after the difficulties she faced when her husband was tested positive for COVID-19. She now has a team of 10 women who cook food every day for at least 100 families in Delhi NCR.
For those affected by the COVID-19, the biggest challenge is to juggle daily tasks while dealing with isolation. Not many families have help when it comes to managing household tasks, and Nisha Chopra faced the worst of it when her husband tested positive back in April.
Speaking to TOI, Nisha Chopra said that her children had to literally survive on fruits for a few days. The ordeal she went through pushed her to help families affected by COVID-19.
The TOI quoted her as saying, "When I saw my kids struggle for food, I realised there would be so many other families facing the same problem. That's when I decided to do what I could."

According to TOI, the feeling of helplessness spurred Nisha Chopra to cook and distribute free food for families affected by COVID-19.
She now has a team of over 10 women who cook every day for at least 100 families, and deliver it to their doorstep for free. The only thing the team asks for in return is to help others in the neighbourhood facing the same difficulties.
Nisha Chopra's initiative started three months ago. The word spread and people started reaching out to the group. Chopra was astounded at the number of phone calls she got everyday.

"We also got a few volunteers who helped with the distribution of meals but many of them fell ill one after another." This forced her to take up the task of collecting food from the volunteers and delivering it to those in need.
As her team members fell ill, Chopra was forced to stick to South Delhi and help people in areas like Sarita Vihar and CR park. But in dire circumstances, she reaches out to those even in places like Noida with food once a day.
Chopra who runs an NGO in Faridabad, said that her main aim is to help the elderly and children.
Hats off to people like Nisha Chopra who have derived the motivation to help others, from their own struggle.
