Chinese President Xi Jinping came to Chennai on Friday to have a two-day informal summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The summit will be held in Mahabalipuram that is about 55 km from Chennai on October 11-12. The Chinese President will be served local Tamil delicacies including Thakkali Rasam.

He received a grand welcome here. Students in a school in Chennai wore masks of Xi Jinping and created formation of his name in Mandarin, while waving India¡¯s and China¡¯s flags. Xi Jinping was received by Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit at the Chennai airport. There were folk dancers and musicians on the airport also.
He will be visiting three places with PM Modi too: Arjuna¡¯s Penance, Panch Rathas and Shore Temple in Mahabalipuram. Let¡¯s talk about food. Prime Minister also tweeted upon his arrival and wrote, ¡®Landed in Chennai. I am happy to be in the great land of Tamil Nadu, known for its wonderful culture and hospitality. It is gladdening that Tamil Nadu will host President Xi Jinping. May this Informal Summit further strengthen ties between India and China.¡¯

The meeting between the two leaders will be for a duration of six hours and the meeting is held amidst the tensions between India and Pakistan over the Kashmir issue, according to the reports.
It is the second such meeting with India after both the leaders talked about Doklam issue.
