Popular social media influencer and YouTuber Ankush Bahuguna recently shared a horrific incident that happened with him on Instagram, where he was under 'digital arrest' for around 40 hours.
Bahuguna, after being absent from social media for three days, opens up about how scammers held him hostage, causing him a major financial loss and significant mental distress.
Sharing a video on his Instagram handle, he shared that he was held hostage by some scammers for 40 hours. He lost his money as well as his mental health due to the incident. "I can¡¯t believe this has happened to me," he added.

Further sharing the details, Bahuguna explained that he received an automated international call (+1 prefix) claiming a cancelled courier delivery. The number seemed like an international number, which he picked up without thinking much. The call was an automated call that said his courier had been cancelled; hence, press zero for support.
This was when pressed zero, and following this, the call connected him to someone who alleged his name, which was linked to a package containing illegal items seized by customs, supposedly destined for China.
According to Bahuguna, the scammers insisted that his Aadhar number and personal details were connected, placing him under a 'digital arrest.'.
Digital arrest linked to money laundering, drug trafficking, and more
Bahuguna later explained how the situation escalated quickly and the scammers accused him of money laundering, drug trafficking, and other serious crimes, claiming that he was a 'prime suspect' in a 'national case.'.
They also told him that they had an active warrant against him. ¡°I was then told I don't have enough time to go to the police station, and he will do me a favour by connecting directly to the police station,¡± Bahuguna explained. Following that, the scammers then transferred him to a WhatsApp video call with someone posing as a police officer in uniform, further intensifying his panic.
