IMD issues red alert in 8 Kerala districts for heavy rain, thunderstorm warning for Delhi today; check complete list
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall warning across various parts of northwest India over the next four to five days. A red alert has been issued in 8 districts of Kerala, while a thunderstorm warning has been issued in Delhi; check details.

Following the arrival of the early monsoon in Maharashtra, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of widespread thunderstorms with gusty winds across various parts of northwest India over the next four to five days.
The warning of a thunderstorm has come as the annual southwest monsoon advances over most parts of the country. Meanwhile, according to the Meteorological Department, this is due to an upper air cyclonic circulation currently located over west Rajasthan, and the other is over the northern parts of central Uttar Pradesh.
As per IMD's prediction, isolated places in Kerala are likely to see heavy rainfall in the coming three to four days, and because of this, the Met Centre has also issued a red warning alert in eight districts of the state.
Delhi, Haryana, and other northern states are to see thunderstorms in the next 4 to 5 days
Apart from Kerala, northern states of India, including Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi, are likely to see fairly widespread light-to-moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds, as per IMD's prediction.

Additionally, six districts, including Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, and Thrissur, are put on orange rainfall alert. Meanwhile, due to the rain, the district administrations in Kerala announced a holiday on May 30 for all educational institutions due to the ongoing intense rainfall.
