On International Men's Day 2024, with the theme "Positive Male Role Models," we celebrate inspiring figures in music like Diljit Dosanjh, Ed Sheeran, and Harry Styles. Diljit¡¯s journey from humble beginnings to global fame highlights resilience and cultural pride.
International Men's Day is marked yearly on November 19, and this year it falls on a Tuesday. The subject for 2024, "Positive Male Role Models," emphasizes the need to encourage open discussions about men's mental health and provide supportive situations in which men can thrive.
So today, let's talk about the role models from the world of music. Global stars like Diljit Dosanjh, Ed Shreean have had their share of struggles but continue to work and inspire others to do so.
1. Diljit Dosanjh
In an interview with Ranveer Allahbadia, also known as BeerBiceps, Dosanjh disclosed that at the age of 11, he was moved to live with a relative in Ludhiana. His parents wanted to make sure he had access to basic necessities such as food, shelter, and education.
¡°I was only eleven when I left home to live with my mamaji (maternal uncle)," Dosanjh said, adding, "I left my village behind and moved to the city. My uncle asked my parents to send me with him, and without even asking me, they agreed.¡±
Diljit Dosanjh's journey is one of pure passion and tenacity. Diljit's climb to global stardom, marked by chart-topping tunes, blockbuster blockbusters, and a Coachella performance that made history, demonstrates that no ambition is too large when you have the will to make it happen.
2. Ed Shreean
The pop artist has previously discussed his stammer, stating in a 2015 interview that it began after he had laser surgery to remove a facial blemish. "One day, they forgot to put the anaesthetic on, and ever since then, I've had a stutter," Sheeran explained.
Ed Sheeran has hailed rapper Eminem for fixing his childhood stammer.
Growing up as "a very weird child," as the singer once defined himself, Ed encouraged individuals to accept their true selves, no matter how unconventional they may appear to others.
3. Harry Styles
Styles has become a vocal supporter of the genderless fashion trend, wearing clothes, make-up, and jewellery on numerous occasions.
"What's feminine and what's masculine, what men are wearing and what women are wearing¡ªit's like there are no lines anymore," Harry Styles says in an interview with The Face. His words tell it all. Who can forget when he wore an elaborate frilled outfit for his Vogue cover shoot?
