In a major development, former United Kingdom Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is going to attend the Indian Premier League final mega clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, June 3, 2025.
According to a ToI report, the former UK PM is a big fan of Virat Kohli, and he will be attending the match only to root for the RCB star in Ahmedabad today.
However, the report further notes that Sunak has strong personal ties to the city of Bengaluru, which is why he is supporting the Bengaluru franchise. The city is home to his wife, Akshata Murthy, who is the daughter of Narayan Murthy, a co-founder of Infosys.

While speaking to ToI, Sunak said, "I'm married into a Bangalore family, so RCB is my team," adding that he proposed to her in Kannada. Sunak also says his in-laws, Narayan and Sudha Murthy, gifted him an RCB jersey after his wedding to Akshata.¡±
However, this is not the only reason why he is a supporter of RCB. He also declared his love for Kohli and finds him to be a ¡®total legend¡¯. In fact, he has actually been an RCB fan ever since his in-laws gave him an RCB jersey as a wedding present.
¡°We used to go to matches a long time ago. Even when I was in office, I¡¯d cheer for RCB at Downing Street,¡± he quoted in the report.

Sunak expressed his admiration for the squad, particularly Kohli, proudly showing off a bat signed by Kohli that India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar had given him when he was still in government, adding, "He's an absolute legend."
But Sunak is not only here to support Virat Kohli; he will also be rooting for RCB, as it has a strong English contingent.
¡°I'm also hoping for a big contribution from RCB's English contingent ¨C Phil Salt and Liam Livingstone ¨C let's bring it home," he is quoted as saying.
