IPL 2025: Virat Kohli creates history! 1st Indian to smash 100 T20 half-centuries
Virat Kohli hammered his third half-century of the season, reaching the milestone during Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) IPL 2025 match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Jaipur's Sawai Mansingh Stadium.

After a rare dropped catch in the field, Virat Kohli bounced back in trademark fashion. On Sunday (April 13), the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star made history by becoming the first Indian ¡ª and only the second player worldwide ¡ª to record 100 half-centuries in T20 cricket. The milestone had previously been achieved only by former Australian opener David Warner.
Kohli reached this feat during RCB's IPL 2025 match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Jaipur¡¯s Sawai Mansingh Stadium. Chasing 174, he opened the innings and brought up his fifty - 3rd of this season - with a six on the third ball of the 15th over, adding yet another highlight to his remarkable career.

Across his IPL career, Warner registered 62 fifties and 4 centuries in 184 games for Delhi Capitals (DC) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Kohli, meanwhile, has now tallied 58 fifties and 8 centuries in 258 appearances ¡ª continuing to cement his place as one of the league's greatest ever.

About RR vs RCB clash
Royal Challengers Bengaluru picked up their fourth win of the season ¡ª and notably, all of them have come on the road. The two games they lost both came at their own home, M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
As for the clash, after choosing to bowl first, RCB's attack restricted Rajasthan Royals to 173/4 - which at that time looked enough. Yashasvi Jaiswal top-scored with 75, while Riyan Parag (30 off 22) and Dhruv Jurel (35 off 23) chipped in with late cameos.
Both sides played cautiously during the powerplay without losing a wicket. RR posted 45 runs in the first six overs, but RCB countered with a blistering 65 ¡ª with Phil Salt hammering 46 of those. Interestingly, both teams dropped numerous catches during the match.
Salt's explosive start nearly took the game away from the hosts. Though Kumar Kartikeya managed to dismiss him for 65, breaking a 94-run opening stand, the Royals couldn't build any pressure on RCB from there. Kohli (62 off 34) and Devdutt Padikkal (40 off 28) formed a strong partnership to get a 9-wicket win in 17.3 overs.
