Gujarat Police used paramotoring to undertake an airborne survey in Junagadh, a first. Videos of a cop performing aerial surveillance on a paraglider have leaked on the internet.

Gujarat Police employed a novel way of overseeing the Lili Parikrama over Girnar Mountain in Junagadh. The yearly event started on November 22 and ended on November 27. Gujarat Police published a video of the flying operation on X (previously Twitter).

The police department wrote, ¡°The Gujarat Police employ paragliding for effectively monitoring the Lili Parikrama in Junagadh.¡±

What does the viral video show?

The viral video depicts an officer doing an aerial manoeuvre in his motorised paraglider. The glider has a proper engine that allows the pilot to navigate in the sky.

The paramotor offers a unique perspective to ensure safety and order among the massive audience gathering for the cherished event. Devotees encircle the venerated Girnar Mountain in Junagadh region during the Parikrama.

The pilgrimage falls during the Hindu calendar's Kartik month, which is November. Lili Parikrama attracts up to 1,00,000 guests from all across India.

A paramotor is similar to a regular paraglider in that it requires a running start for the pilot. The landing and taking off are usually done in open locations. Gujarat Police officers have received appropriate training to operate the equipment safely.

How did the internet react?

However, social media users were dissatisfied with Gujarat Police's attitude and voiced their displeasure in the comments section. They urged the law enforcement agency to employ drones instead of paragliding since it could be 'risky'.
