During Summer Vacation Midday Meals To Be Provided To Students In Schools
The midday meals will be provided to students even while the schools are closed during summer vacation due to lockdown. During the lockdown period ration is being provided under midday meals scheme for the kids to get adequate amounts of food and nutrition.
It is announced by the Union HRD minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ¡®Nishank¡¯ that the midday meals will be provided to students even while the schools are closed during summer vacation due to lockdown which is imposed to curb the coronavirus outbreak.
The minister made a comment at the meeting which was held through a video conference with state education ministers, he has directed the states to start the evaluation process of the answer sheets of the board classes which is 10 and 12 and try to facilitate the CBSE.
Nishank said, ¡°During the lockdown period, ration is being provided under midday meals scheme for the kids to get adequate amounts of food and nutrition. Approval is being given for giving mid-day meals during summer vacations in schools. On this an additional expenditure of about 1,600 crore will be made. For this an ad-hoc grant of 2,500 crore is being issued for the first quarter.¡±
He further added that ¡°In the time of COVID-19, the annual central allocation of cooking cost or procurement of grains, vegetables, oil, spices and fuel is under the midday meal scheme which is enhanced to Rs 8100 crore from 7,300 crore, an increment of 10.99 per cent in total.¡±
The states have been asked to begin the evaluation process of board exam answer sheets, the minister said, ¡°The evaluation process must begin and states must facilitate CBSE to evaluate answer sheets of the students in their respective states. Schools like Kendriya Vidyalaya and Navodaya Vidyalaya are approved but could not start due to running on less capacity are requested to transfer it quickly so that the children of the state can get the benefit from it.
