Quarantine Special: 7 Simple Recipes For Easy Cooking During Lockdown
The Coronavirus induced lockdown may well be one of the most difficult phase of life for a lot of people. Such stringent movement restrictions have been placed for our safety. But for the foodies out there, this might be the worst thing to ever have happened. That delicious street food, the favourite restaurant, the appetising snacks are all out of reach. Or so you think. What if you can't go to the restaurant, the restaurant can still come to you.
Here are some easy and mouth-watering recipes for you to try at home and enjoy your quarantine time.
1. Apple Pie
Fruits are always an integral part of any diet plan, but here we have come up with an amazing apple pie recipe that you will love.
Ingredients:
Butter -250 gm
Unsalted Butter -30 gm
Powdered Sugar-100 gm
Castor Sugar- 20 gm
Flour -300 gm
Apples- 3
Cinnamon Powder - 5 gm
Raisins - 20 gm
Cashew Nuts - 20 gm
Custard Powder -15 gm
How to make:
Step 1:
Add the flour, butter and sugar, whisk them together in a bowl till it turns to a light and fluffy dough.
Refrigerate the dough and refrigerate it for two or three hours.
Step 2:
Apple filing - Wash the apple with warm water and cut them into cubes. Then heat the unsalted butter in a pan and saute some cashew nuts, apples together in the butter. Add caster sugar, cinnamon powder and custard powder and cook them together till the apples are half done.
Step 3:
Put all the ingredients together, Roll out the sweet dough and line the mould. Add the apple filing to the mould and cover it with the remaining dough.
Step 4:
Let¡¯s bake at 170 degree celsius for 30-40 minutes and serve it hot to your family.
2. Chilli garlic noodles with cheese
Here another easy recipe that would be ready in no time and offers some amazing flavours. So don't worry if you've been missing that chilli garlic flavour.
Ingredients:
Maggi - 1 packet
Butter - 2 cubes
Garlic - Chopped
Oregano (as per taste)
Chilli flakes (as per taste)
Cheese
How to make:
Step 1:
Heat some butter in a pan and add chopped garlic.
Step 2:
Add water and let it boil
Step 3:
Now add Maggi noodles and taste-maker (from the packet)
Step 4:
After it gets cooked add chilli flakes and oregano and sprinkle some cheese over it and mix it well.
3. Eggless Pancakes
Here¡¯s a recipe which you can try out at home with simple ingredients and a tasty outcome.
Ingredients:
Milk - 320 gms
Powdered Sugar - 100 gms
Refined Flour - 200 gms
Melted Butter - 90 gms
Baking soda- 3 gms
Vanilla essence- 1 tablespoon
Maple Syrup or honey (as per choice)
How to make:
Step 1:
Take all the ingredients like refined flour, powder sugar, and baking soda and whisk them together.
Step 2:
Add the milk, vanilla essence to the mixture that you have created , stir it well and let it sit for a couple of minutes.
Step -3
Heat some butter in a pan till it melts to zero and then add the batter you have already prepared. Stir everything together.
Step 4:
Heat the pan again, and add butter to it. Once the butter gets melted, add the batter with the help of the spoon or ladle but make sure you don¡¯t try and spread it.
Step 5:
Cook the pancakes on a medium too low flame until the bubbles begin to form on the surface and then carefully flip it to the other side. Cook the same on both the sides and here comes your eggless tasty pancakes.
Step 6:
Once you think they are done, add maple syrup over it and berries if you have.
4. Chocolate brownie
Are you craving something chocolaty? How about an easy recipe of chocolate brownie.
Ingredients:
1 cup castor sugar -1 cup
Refined flour (maida) -1/2 cup
A pinch of baking powder
Eggs - 2
Butter - 1 cup
Dark chocolate or cooking chocolate bar - 100 -150 gms
How to make:
Step 1:
Melt the chocolate and butter in the microwave. Mix the castor sugar with the eggs.
Step 2:
Add the chocolate and butter into the mixture.
Step 3:
Mix it gently (don¡¯t overmix the ingredients)
Step 4:
Add the dry ingredients and mix these ingredients together with the cut and fold method.
Note: If you don't have chocolate, use 1/2 cup cocoa powder instead. Add the melted butter as it is
Step 5:
Grease a pan and put it in the oven for 25-30 minutes at 250 degrees.
If you are using a microwave, bake for 7-10 minutes.
Your chocolate brownie is ready!
5. Chips with cheese and salami
This recipe is all you need to fill the missing feeling for those tasty nachos.
Ingredients:
Chips - 1 packet
Cheese - Slices
Salami ( veg- Capisicum and sweet corn)
How to make:
Step 1:
Take a bowl and empty the chips packet in the bowl.
Step 2:
Add salami or the veg ingredients to it
Step 3:
Place the cheese slices on top of it and microwave it for one minute. It is ready to eat!
6. Eggless orange cake
Orange is quite popular these days thanks to Vitamic C which helps in boosting immunity. So, here's an easy-peasy orange squeezy recipe for a tempting orange cake!
Ingredients
Flour- 300 gm
Milkmaid -400 gm
Melted Butter - 175 gm
Baking Powder - 12 gm
Soda Water - 300 gm
Tang powder
Orange Zest
How to make:
Step 1:
Take the refined flour, baking powder and tang powder together and mix it together and keep it aside.
Step 2:
Take another bowl, pour the melted butter, orange zest and milkmaid and whisk all these until it becomes one mixture.
Step 3:
Now add the flour to the liquid mix in small batches and mix them well.
Step 4:
Transfer this mixture to a greased pan and pay attention that you leave no bubbles
Step 5:
Bake at 180¡æ for 25-30 minutes in the oven and it is ready!
7. Vanilla Cookies
Another easy to make recipe for cookies you can snack on any time of the day.
Ingredients:
Butter - 220 gm
Powdered Sugar -110 gm
Vanilla Essence -1 tsp
Flour-339 gm
Jam
How to make:
Step 1:
Start by taking a bowl and mixing the flour, butter and powdered sugar. Add vanilla extract and keep whisking. Then by the use of your hands press the dough against the bottom and the sides to bring it together.
Step 2:
Fold the prepared dough and refrigerate it for an hour or so.
Step 3:
When the cookie dough is ready, prepare small balls and lightly flatten them. Then press little further in the center and add jam to that area.
You can also use cookie cutters to make fun shapes!
Step 4:
Bake the cookies at 170¡æ for approximately 20-25 minutes and serve hot!
