Shubhanshu Shukla pens emotional farewell to wife Kamna just before his space journey ¡ª here¡¯s what he said
Indian Air Force Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, part of the Axiom-4 mission, penned a heartfelt note to his wife Kamna before liftoff. From childhood friendship to unwavering partnership, their story adds a personal moment to a historic space mission.

As the Axiom-4 mission prepared to launch from NASA's Kennedy Space Centre in Florida, Indian astronaut and Air Force Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla offered a personal glimpse into his life before liftoff. The mission was initially set for June 22 but was rescheduled due to operational delays.
Shukla, a native of Lucknow, will be accompanied by three other astronauts on this journey to the International Space Station. Before takeoff, he shared a moving message with his followers, acknowledging those who supported him¡ªespecially his wife.
A message of gratitude to Kamna
In an Instagram post, Shukla wrote, ¡°As we plan to leave the planet early morning of 25 Jun, I wish to thank everyone who has been involved in this mission for their support and also to all the people back home for their blessings and love.¡± He reserved a special note for his wife Kamna, stating, ¡°Special thanks to Kamna for being the wonderful partner that you are. Without you none of this was possible but more importantly none of this would matter.¡±
Along with the post, he shared a photograph capturing an emotional farewell¡ªhim and Kamna separated by a glass wall, sharing a final moment before the historic flight.
From schoolmates to lifepartners
According to a Times of India report, the couple¡¯s bond traces back to their school days in Lucknow. Kamna shared that she met Shubhanshu in Class 3, calling him her best friend and ¡°the shy guy in our classroom.¡± The couple now has a six-year-old son together.
Family pride and recognition
Shukla¡¯s mother, Asha Shukla, praised her daughter-in-law for her contribution. ¡°This could not have been possible without her... She has played the biggest role here,¡± she said, adding that the entire locality of Triveni Nagar in Lucknow was celebrating the moment.
