After BGT disaster, BCCI limits wives' stay on tours, internet reacts hilariously: 'Anushka's new job will be at ESPN'
After India's poor performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the BCCI has introduced a rule limiting cricketers' families to just 14 days on a 45-day tour. Naturally, the internet is having a field day, with fans cracking jokes about Virat Kohli's "family man" image and wondering if we'll ever see more "Virushka edits."
India's performance in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy was nothing short of a disaster, with the team losing the five-match series 1-3 to Australia. In response, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) held a meeting and introduced a set of strict changes, including a new rule that cricketers' wives and families can stay with them for only 14 days during a 45-day tour. As expected, the internet has been flooded with reactions, and some of them are downright hilarious!
What the BCCI has said
A recent report suggests that the BCCI believes players' performances on overseas tours can be negatively impacted by extended stays with their families.
To address this, the board is reinstating a pre-2019 rule that limits family visits to just two weeks during a 45-day tour.
According to Dainik Jagran, the BCCI is also emphasising team unity by requiring all players to travel together on the team bus, discouraging solo travel during tours.
This decision may come as a setback for players like Virat Kohli, whose wife, Anushka Sharma, is often spotted on tours, along with other cricketers' spouses such as Ritika Sajdeh (current captain Rohit Sharma's wife) and Athiya Shetty (KL Rahul's wife.)

Here's how people are reacting to the new rules:
Some joked that Anushka Sharma, Virat Kohli's wife, might now need to consider a career as an ESPN writer to stay close to cricket.

Meanwhile, some criticised the BCCI for bringing back such regressive rules, asking why players' poor performances are blamed on their families, branding it as "PCB-level stuff."
What rubbish. What families has to do with performance. Why they are getting so regressive. Why focus on non cricketing aspects?
