Gender-Biassed Ticket Pricing Sparks Outrage At Bengaluru Speed Dating Event
A comparable gathering is set to take place in Bangalore soon. What has surprised people is the huge price disparity between male and female tickets.?
Speed dating is a social event or matchmaking process designed to facilitate meetings between potential romantic partners. It is typically organised by a company or an individual, and it involves a group of participants who rotate through a series of short, timed conversations with each other.
Speed dating has grown very popular. Several companies now conduct their own speed dating events in major cities. The idea is that those who have registered will enter the event with a focus on personality rather than physical attractiveness.
Most of the time, it is a blind date, and you choose people based on your tastes and comparable choices.

Ansh Agarwal, a Twitter user, described how the male participant must pay Rs 1499 to attend the event. Female participants, on the other hand, can enter the event for as little as Rs. 99.
The tickets can be purchased through Book My Show, and the event description reads, "Tired of swiping and texting? Come to our social mixer to meet possible dates and friends in person. We created this event to foster intimacy among carefully selected attendees, resulting in friendship, passion, and even marriage."
It goes on to say that the event will include "fun" icebreakers and speed dating games to encourage mindful conversations and deep relationships.
The viral tweet sparked a debate among internet users. Here's what people wrote.
Makes sense no? Clearly the gender ratio would be skewed. Similar to the entry scene at clubs.

Govt is already giving freebies to gareeb females.
Hence, guys should avoid participating in such events. Govt is already helping them cope. https://t.co/56v9TMl0qY
Reminds me of this pub 'Whats in a Name' in Koramangala that intended to welcome (nay lure) women to visit by saying 'free drinks and free cash'.

Me: Wow, can it get more offensive?
Also me: Why doesn't anyone offer free food? Why must I drink? Get me some Nachos on the house https://t.co/fwGHRdX5F1
Do you know speed dating has existed since the 1990s?
Speed dating, as a formalised matchmaking process, emerged in the late 1990s. The concept was developed by Rabbi Yaacov Deyo and his wife, Sue, in Los Angeles, California. They were looking for a way to help Jewish singles meet and connect more efficiently. The first speed dating event took place in 1998 at a Beverly Hills cafe.
The idea behind speed dating was to create a structured and time-efficient way for singles to meet a large number of potential partners in a short period of time. Participants would rotate from one table to another, engaging in brief conversations that typically lasted around five minutes. After each interaction, individuals would mark down their interest in the other person, and if there was a mutual interest, contact information would be exchanged.
In recent years, online speed dating platforms have also emerged, allowing people to participate in virtual speed dating events from the comfort of their own homes. This adaptation has further expanded the accessibility and reach of speed dating, making it convenient for individuals with busy schedules or limited geographic proximity.
