A skill like fast reading is typically developed through consistent practise. Those who are proficient at it can read quickly while still fully understanding the meaning and topic of the text.
While it can help one breeze through academic and general studies chapters, it can also cause errors in word recognition and conceptual understanding. Nowadays, it's difficult for most people to finish a book or academic chapter quickly due to the abundance of digital distractions.
Is there a trick to reading more quickly while still understanding everything?
A Twitter user posted about something to help people read faster that has gathered attention online. Here's what the user shared:
New 'hack' for reading
A Twitter user by the name of Forest shared a picture and wrote, "I¡¯ve never read so fast. #ADHD" However, the image in the tweet is now inaccessible, the tweet has gone viral regardless and started a debate online.
A new hack, which is being hailed as a blessing for people with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, can help people read books almost twice as fast and with more focus, according to a number of Twitter users (ADHD).
How is the hack implemented? It employs a technique called "bionic reading," which helps readers by directing their eyes with artificial fixation points as they read. Using this method, the reader only concentrates on the initial letters that have been highlighted, which allows the reader's brain to fill in the rest of the word.
The technique also goes back and highlights the text's most succinct passages. The technique can currently be used with a device-downloadable app to read digital books.
This hack can help people read more quickly and independently in a busy world
According to the app's creators, it can help people read more quickly and independently in a busy, noisy environment. They stated, "We view technological progress as an opportunity for all those who want to increase the pleasure of reading in a busy and noisy world in a focused and distraction-free manner. On social media, people who have used the tool have expressed conflicting views about how effective it is.
People on social media shared their thoughts. A lady wrote, "My brain does not like it, I¡¯m a fast reader, and it forces me to slow down and it feels glitchy to read."

Another lady added, "I'm glad it works for a lot of you. It actually distracts me, tho I like reading and have always been fast reader in general. It's neat to see how all of us with adhd can be so different and so alike at the same time."

A lady, on the other hand, wrote, "I like this. I¡¯m usually a quick reader when focused but I¡¯ll often lose focus and have to re-read sections. This helped maintain my focus so I didn¡¯t have to re-read anything like I normally would."

A study of more than 2,000 people found "no evidence that Bionic Reading has any positive effect on reading speed," raising questions about the effectiveness of the technique. A UNILAD report states that participants read 2.6 words per minute less slowly when using bionic reading than when reading regular text.
