'Blatant And Brilliant': Comedian's Satirical Take On Mass Layoffs Is Accurate And Concerning
The comedian blasted companies who lay off workers despite generating billions in revenue.
To reduce expenses, businesses worldwide have laid off thousands of workers in recent months, and the situation is expected to worsen in 2023. Some are venting on social media, while others actively seek employment and send their resumes.
Amidst this, many have taken an interest in a woman's rant as a recently unemployed techie, and they seem to relate to her perspective.
In a video discussing recent layoffs in the technology space, comedian Shraddha Jain expressed her viewpoint in a calm, controlled, and scathing manner.
Shraddha, or "Aiyyo Shraddha" as she's called online, played a laid-off techie in her newest Instagram reel. The clip has now gone viral.
The comedian blasted companies who lay off workers despite generating billions in revenue. The video has gotten several hits since she uses sarcasm to accentuate her point.
In the video, Shraddha played a fired IT worker who felt sorry for the human resources department, which had to switch from promoting "diversity and inclusion" to dealing with "adversity and expulsion."
"From work from home to work from the office to work for somebody else," she said.
"And all this after all the employee interaction activities to keep employees happy. For that, you need employees. They should have focused on keeping employees."
She was ruthless on businesses that referred to their workers as "family."

She replied that actual families take each other for granted yet never let go of one another.
Shraddha's most harsh critique was directed at profitable businesses still laying off workers.
"At the company offsite, we celebrated the company tripling its profit in a year. What happened? A month later, we are so poor. Who robbed us?" she asked.
Taking a dig at companies that offer merchandise to keep employees 'happy', she added,
"This company give away long service awards: people who have given 20-25 years of excellence for company's continued success. A week later, they did not have acces, to the company's network. Arey at the company offsite, we celebrated the company tripling its revenue in a year. What happened a month later? We are so poor, who robbed us? But while it lasted the company was a huge part of my life haan huge. Other than my government ID proofs, the company name is everywhere. T-shirt, bag, water bottle, pen, notebook, cap, coffee mug, mask, weekends, everywhere: company name. It was easier to forget my ex than to forget this company now. Next job I'm going to bluntly say no to any company merchandise. Only package, no baggage."
The viral video, which has been ¡®liked¡¯ by many who could relate to the current job climate, was also shared by RPG Group chairman Harsh Goenka.
In the video, the comedian also talked about the current topic of ChatGPT and how some people expect that AI development may lead to more significant job layoffs in the future.
"AI can¡¯t overtake human paranoia and human curiosity. AI can do what human beings have been doing. Only humans can do what human beings haven't done before," she said.
"I lost my job because the company's investors were unsure if their investment would become 400x in coming years. How will we go to Mars!" she added, taking a massive dig at Elon Musk promptly laid off over half of the company's staff after acquiring the social media powerhouse Twitter in October 2022.

Twitter isn't the only large internet company laying off staff recently. Major corporations like Microsoft, Meta, and Google are also amid mass layoffs.
