Lauren, a server at the Gilson restaurant in South Yarra, Melbourne, made the most money in a single day of her career while tending to a table of four customers.
Despite the table's heavy tab, one of the patrons left a tip that was much more than just kind.
When the university student examined the receipt, she was astounded by what she saw. She took a brief pause before asking the diners if they were serious about leaving a tip. They immediately said it wasn't an error.
Unsurprisingly, she sprinted to her colleagues and sobbed happily. All of the waiters were required by restaurant policy to split tips amongst themselves. However, the kind diner in this instance had stated that Lauren would receive the majority of the tip.
He continued, "I'll only leave the tip if Lauren gets 70% of it," She did as well.
A picture of the mysterious diner has been shared online days after the incident and he has now been identified. He was said to have a portfolio of properties worth more than ?68.9 million, according to reports.
The diner was a crypto billionaire
Ed Craven, a crypto billionaire with headquarters in Melbourne and the youngest billionaire in Australia, is the little-known successful businessman of this tale. Craven dined at the restaurant with three friends and racked up a hefty tab. He was the one who insisted Lauren get 70% of the gratuity.
The 27-year-old is a co-founder of the website enterprisestake.com, an online casino.
The Weekend Australian Magazine received statistics indicating that on average $US400 million in bets were placed on the site each day.
The self-made cryptocurrency entrepreneur, the caf¨¦ patron reportedly owns property valued at over $120 million AUD (?68.9 million), so he is obviously doing well for himself.
Her coworker said, "I'm happy for Lauren and she is a really hard worker and she deserves it." Lauren was ecstatic about the generous gesture and couldn't contain her joy. "I am just incredibly grateful," she said. "It's amazing to know how highly they regarded my service. That money will be helpful. A lot," she added.
