Eco-friendly Containers Made Of Rice Bran Get A Seal Of Approval From The Internet
The video showcasing the eco-friendly rice bran containers was retweeted by Shashi Tharoor and he also had an important message to share.
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor recently shared an informative video about biodegradable and eco-friendly containers made from rice bran.
The MP retweeted the video which was originally shared on Twitter by Principal Secretary Environment Climate Change & Forests of Tamil Nadu, Supriya Sahu and urged the Central government to provide incentives to ramp up their production.

The video has gone viral since then. It shows how a man showcases different products made from rice bran. He then goes on to show food containers, small cups and glasses that can be used as an eco-friendly alternative for plastic containers.
¡°Food containers made out of rice bran are leak-proof, affordable, disposable and earth-friendly. Hotels, restaurants food joints, it¡¯s time for you to stop using banned plastic packaging in TN and switch to sustainable eco alternatives." She also used the hashtag ¡°meendummanjappai¡± referencing the environment-friendly initiative launched by the Tamil Nadu government a few days ago.
The video got a lot of great responses where IAS Sahu was asked about similar local initiatives in Tamil Nadu. She stated In a subsequent tweet that she'd provide a list of local eco manufacturers in Tamil Nadu.

Keeping her promise, Sahu shared the list of the eco manufacturers in the state. In the caption, Sahu told her followers that ¡°alternatives to plastic packaging are in plenty, we need an open mind to find them, use and promote¡±.

The video of the rice bran container has over 267K views. Netizens also extended support for the initiative. Some users also raised concerns over the cost of eco-friendly products.
The main problem with all sustainable products is the cost involved.

The government can only subsidise upto a point. People need to take responsibility and choose wisely.
Rather than subsidies the government should invest in R&D to bring down costs.
This is really such a good innovation. The use of ths product would definitely reduce our dependency on plastic products.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin launched ¡®Meendum Manjapai Vizhipunarvu Iyakkam¡¯ in Kalaivanar Arangam on December 24.
The state government had imposed a ban on the production, use, storage, distribution, transportation or sale of 14 types of plastics with effect from January 1, 2019.
