During a recent business trip to Bangalore, a Redditor shared a troubling experience involving three European Union (EU) citizens: two men and one woman.
Upon arriving at the immigration counter, the two male colleagues were quickly processed with only a few basic questions. However, the female colleague - 'a beautiful blond lady' - faced a much more troubling situation.
Despite having all the required documents¡ªher visa and hotel booking¡ªshe was subjected to an extensive interrogation by an immigration officer.
This questioning lasted about ten minutes before she was taken into a separate room for an additional twenty-minute interrogation.
Shockingly, the officer demanded her phone number, implying that her release was contingent upon providing it.
Feeling frightened, she mentioned that her manager, who had accompanied her and had the same documents, was already granted entry and was waiting for her. This seemed to sway the officer, who then allowed her to leave.
The Redditor expressed deep embarrassment and discomfort over the incident, especially since it was their colleague's first visit to India.
They described their shock and disappointment that such behavior came from an official, highlighting that it reflected a serious lapse in both basic decency and respect, particularly towards women.
The post concluded with a call for not only education but proper upbringing: "Obviously the officer is an educated person but he does not know basic human decency and no respect for others especially women. They feel powerful. We need not just education but proper upbringing as well."
In the comments, many suggested that the individual should file a complaint with her embassy and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) regarding this 'unacceptable behavior.'
