First Air India-Vistara flight takes off from Doha for Mumbai, operates with rebranding sticker under 'AI2XXX' code
The newly merged Air India-Vistara airline operated its first international flight, AI2286, from Doha to Mumbai on Monday night, marking its debut foreign service. The first domestic flight, AI2984, flew from Mumbai to Delhi early Tuesday morning.
On Monday night, the merged Air India-Vistara company flew its first trip from Doha to Mumbai. The flight with the code 'AI2286' left Doha at about 10.07 p.m. local time and is due to arrive in Mumbai early Tuesday morning. It also marks the united entity's first foreign flight. The entity's first scheduled domestic flight, AI2984, took off from Mumbai to Delhi about 1.30 a.m. on Tuesday. It is being operated by an A320 aircraft.

The code 'AI2XXX' is used for Vistara flights operated by Air India following the merger to help passengers identify the Vistara flight while booking.
According to online reports, AI2286 from Doha to Mumbai will be the first flight operated by the amalgamated airline. According to the flight tracking website Flightradar24.com, the flight, operated by an A321 aircraft, departed Doha at approximately 10.07 p.m. local time.
As Vistara completes its merger into Air India the last Vistara call sign flight and first Air India call sign flight are in the air.

The flight lasts approximately three hours. Vistara's merger with Air India, both part of the Tata Group, represents a significant consolidation in the country's civil aviation sector. Vistara is a joint venture between Tata and Singapore Airlines. Following the merger, Singapore Airlines will own 25.1 per cent of the larger Air India.
IndiGo bid farewell to Vistara
During the final day, Vistara pilots gave in-flight statements announcing the merger, stating that customers could continue to enjoy their familiar Vistara experience aboard Air India planes. Meanwhile, IndiGo, the country's largest airline, said goodbye with a brief video of a Vistara aircraft taxiing for takeoff on X.

Not just IndiGo, ground staff and crew members at Odisha's Biju Patnaik International Airport said an emotional goodbye to the last Vistara flight.
