Is showing up late to work with an excuse of having stayed late, a valid enough reason for an employee to not get into trouble? Apparently, Not. A young employee told her boss a similar excuse for showing up late to the office and it ended up in a viral post on X with a heated response from internet users. Here's what happened.

X user and advocate Ayushi Doshi shared a screenshot from a young employee where he mentioned showing up late to the office after having stayed late in the office the night before.
The screenshot read, "Hii Sir & Ma'am I will be coming tomorrow at 11.30 am Because I am currently leaving office at 8.30 pm."
The text from the employee left the woman speechless and she posted the image with the caption, "I can¡¯t believe my junior sent me this. Today¡¯s kids are something else. He stayed late, so now he¡¯s going to show up late to the office to "make up" for it. What a move. I am speechless mahn [sic]."

Our profession has made this toxic exploitation the norm and widely accepted. However, there is nothing wrong in what your junior is expecting. You pay him for the hours he puts in, not for the draft. If his hours don't qualify as good enough, then YOU hired the wrong junior.
