'Your Degree Is Just A Piece Of Paper': IAS Officer's Tweet On Education Leaves Internet Divided
IAS officer Jitin Yadav's tweet about a degree just being a piece of paper has the sparked a debate about the importance of education.
For anyone who has watched the blockbuster hit 3 Idiots would remember how the movie gave us all a lesson for life. The character played by Aamir Khan, Rancho taught us how no one should study or attend classes just to be a part of the rat race, but one should learn and do something that will actually ignite joy in them.
That did make us wonder whether we should not stress ourselves out by cramming and care about getting a 100% in exams. But at the end of the day, it all comes down to getting the highest marks and everyone is working hard to get a respectable position in a renowned college or a great job to maintain a good livelihood.
But a tweet by an IAS officer has opened that 'not being a part of the rat race' chapter yet again and making us think twice about our education system.
This IAS Officer by the name of Jitin Yadav expressed his thoughts about education. He tweeted, "Your degree is just a piece of paper. Your education is seen in your behaviour, along with your struggles and experiences."
Your degree is just a piece of paper.
¡ª Jitin Yadav, IAS (@Jitin_IAS) June 29, 2021
Your education is seen in your behaviour, along with your struggles and experiences.
Yadav's tweet soon started getting attention and triggered a debate whether one should actually pay any heed to these degrees that will never really ever come handy or work doubly hard to attain a degree from a reputated college or university.
Moreover, it also opened a debate where people asked whether our education system is way too strict and gives more importance to quantity over the over all quality of a person.
Real education starts when one enters the professional life. With each day unfolds a new learning experience.

Indian education is just a test of memory.

Student scored 90% not necessarily well behave.
Student scored 35% not necessarily misbehave.
True sir even clearing UPSC didn't qualify you as a awesome citizen, humanity in you defines it

Completely true. The degree is just a piece of paper in India. You can purchase degree of mbbs, b. Tech, mba, phd , llb or any degree if you have money. You get https://t.co/XRa0vfraYN, mbbs and do irrelevant job. So, degree is just showpiece.

Two relevant quotes I can remember
¡ª Lakhansingh Rathore (@LakhanDRathore) June 29, 2021
1- educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all
2 - education that does not mould the character is useless
By this logic , we really don't need degrees for being doctor your so called gyan and experience will serve the purpose ... imagine to get treated by them

And I guess this post itself speaks many things ?
That's after they have seen your degree.

Let's be honest, none of the fortune companies recruit based on the latter.
Ofcource, longevity is based on the latter one.
But Sir, Degree is counted as Qualification in all servicing jobs.

Nobody know us personally at interview, they only look at Degrees and work experience.
Degree is not just a piece of paper. It¡¯s very important document for getting good job.
From the tweets, it does seem like people are not happy with the tough Indian education system. Moreover, like other countries, our schools and colleges should look into over growth of a person by giving equal importance to sports, extra-curricular activities and hobbies. At the end of the day, nobody really asks Steve Jobs or Jeff Bezos about their marks because of their creative thinking and their ability to think out of the box.
That's what really matters, isn't it?
