India Cities Turned Into 'Ghost Towns' After Lockdowns Were Reintroduced

There's a lockdown for two days every week in the West Bengal state, amidst the spread of the coronavirus in Kolkata. The total number of cases registered in the state crossed the 50,000 mark with 2,436 new cases being recorded in the last 24 hours. This is the highest single day spike till date. The death toll climbed to 1,255 with 34 COVID-patients dying in the last 24 hours.

According to report, Jammu and Kashmir reported 718 fresh Covid-19 positive cases on Thursday, taking the union territory's tally to 16429. The death toll due to COVID-19 reached 282 after nine deaths were reported.

S P Road and surrounding areas remain closed despite lockdown release on Wednesday in Bengaluru. Karnataka on Thursday witnessed the highest single-day spike of 5,030 positive cases and, on a positive note, saw 2,071 discharges the same day. The total in Bengaluru, with 2,207 new cases, is set to touch the 40,000-mark. The state reported 97 deaths and the toll is 1,616. Bengaluru reported 48 deaths in the past 24 hours, taking the toll to 783.

A containment zone at Rajiv Nagar in Patna during complete lockdown imposed by the state government as a preventive measure against the spread of COVID-19. According to the information received by the Health Department, on Thursday, the total number of COVID-19 infected in the state has increased to 31,691 out of which over 20,000 have recovered, and 212 deaths.
