Watch: Locals Jump Into River In Jharkhand To Rescue Newlywed Couple Whose Car Fell Off Bridge
Video shows how locals jumped into a river in Jharkhand to rescue newlywed couple whose car fell off a bridge and into the river in Palamu district.
Often times, there is little hope for passengers trapped inside a car that falls into a river. But luckily for this newlywed couple, it was a close call and nothing more. Things could've gone terribly wrong were it not for a few quick-thinking locals.
Reportedly, a car carrying the couple along with three others fell into a river in Jharkhand's Palamu district on Sunday. But locals were quick to spot the floating car and some of them jumped into the water without a second thought to save the people inside from drowning.
Dramatic footage circulating online shows dozens of people gathered by the edge of the river, trying to rescue the group of people inside the half-sunk car. In the video it appears that the locals managed to bring the car closer to the bank with the help of the rope they tied around the vehicle.
According to an NDTV report, the occupants were returning to the groom's village when the car they were travelling in fell off a bridge and got swept away by the strong current of the Malay river.

The car was apparently swept away for about half a kilometre in the river before the villagers could smash open the windows and drag the occupants out.
On Sunday, the capital of Jharkhand, Ranchi and other districts received rain and thunder.
