Soon after visuals of Mishra not wearing a mask went viral in April, he was criticised heavily by the Congress. Ex-minister and Congress leader PC Sharma questioned the attitude of Narottam Mishra. ¡°On one hand, common people cannot go out and get fined for venturing out without mask, and there is no action on the home minister himself for violating the norms,¡± said PC Sharma.

While some people have called the move disgraceful while some are appreciative of this mask. A person who was in favour of the state Home Minister said, ¡°It's real, and it's a good move, everyone should wear these types of masks so that they can be identified without removing the mask.¡±
Mishra was appointed as the home minister of the state in July. He was also made the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs as well as minister of Law and Justice.
Printeds mask first became popular in Kerala after the owner of a photo studio in Kottayam started the customisable trend in his hometown.
