According to reports from 12 News, Arizona ranks among the top states in the US for UFO sightings, based on data from the National UFO Reporting Center.
Since its inception in 1974, the organization has compiled information from across the globe concerning unidentified lights and objects observed in the sky.
Among the 170,000 reports, nearly 5,000 originated from Arizona alone. Many of these cases were reported by pilots or military personnel. However, none have matched the magnitude of the infamous Phoenix Lights incident.
On March 13, 1997, a majority of Phoenix residents witnessed lights arranged in a V shape in the sky, with no satisfactory explanation forthcoming to this day.
