IFS officer Parveen Kaswan shared Netaji's letter on X, captioning the post: "On April 22, 1921, Subhash #Bose resigned from the Indian Civil Service to participate in the Freedom struggle, for a greater cause. He was 24 years old then. His original resignation letter from service. Tribute on his birth anniversary. (sic)" Dated April 22, 1921, the letter, addressed to Edwin Montagu, the secretary of state, opens with the statement: "I desire to have my name removed from the list of probationers in the Indian Civil Service."
In his letter, Bose also noted that he had been granted a stipend of 100 pounds, a sum he pledged to send to the India office upon the acceptance of his resignation.
