There's An App For People Who Want To 'Rent A Boyfriend' & It Aims To Cure Depression
Rent A Boy Friend is an app which allows you to rent a boyfriend to cure depression. The aim of the app is to help lonely people overcome their depression by having a partner by their side for a day. You can rent a celebrity for Rs 3000 or a model for up to Rs 2000 or an aam aadmi commoner for just Rs 300-400 per hour.
For those who are tired of the fast-paced Tinder hook-ups, there's an app which apparently 'holds more meaning'.
It's an app, which - brace yourself - allows you to 'rent a boyfriend' to cure depression! Rent A Boy Friend aka RABF app, website: www.rentabf.in, was launched on Friday in Pune and Mumbai.
The aim of the app is to help lonely people overcome their depression by having a partner by their side for a day. The app is the brainchild of 29-year-old Kaushal Prakash who says that ¡°there won¡¯t be any sexual relations or private meetings.¡± It's purely platonic.
Kaushal Prakash came up with this idea with his own experience of suffering from depression.
He also adds that the app will have a toll-free number where people could call up 'professionals' and discuss their problems.
Giving details about men in display on RABF website, Prakash said, ¡°You can rent a celebrity for Rs 3,000, or a model for up to Rs 2,000, or an aam aadmi (commoner) for just Rs 300-400 per hour. The website works strictly on a commission basis, giving 70 per cent of the earning to the boyfriends.
"With a corpus of 65 belonging to the age group of 20-25 years, RABF also has a couple of 55-year-old boyfriends in the mix.¡±
Also, the initiative doesn¡¯t include females because ¡®rent a girl¡¯ does not sound right in India. Well, then!
While is this app is seen as a unique initiative, we have a few questions:
1. Is it really equipped to fight 'depression' - which mind you, is very different from sadness?
2. Why does the app distinguish between hot men and average looking men? If the idea is to have someone to talk to, then how does it matter how the dude looks?
3. Is having a boyfriend a way to fight depression?
