These Pictures Of, What Is Allegedly A Nordic Prison, Are Proof That They're Better Than Our Apartments
Pictures of a Nordic prison cell and common areas were shared on Twitter by user Darrel Owens. Netizens were absolutely shocked to know how good the quality is of these prisons.
We've watched enough shows by now to know that doing prison time can be a very tough ride. From being confined in narrow cells, to getting into altercations with other prison mates, it's not exactly hospitable.
However, turns out, this isn't how it is everywhere.
Not all prison cells are dark and gloomy. In fact, some are actually well-maintained, properly ventilated and hygienic enough to ensure safety for the inmates. Swedish's prisons are a clear example of this, as they look better than most of our apartments (Looking at you, Mumbai peeps!).

In a follow-up tweet, Owens added that the first two photos were cells and the other two were common areas that can accommodate up to 12 prisoners.
'By $3,000 dollar apartments, I just mean modern housing, not inhumane dungeons like American prisons. SF's rent isn't high because the apartments are good but because there's a housing shortage', he wrote.
He also compared the state of prisons in America to Sweden and mentioned that proper rehabilitation plays a huge a factor in reducing crime.
He added that the way the US assigns sentences is 'absurdly wrong' and prisoners in Nordic countries usually stay inside the prison for a shorter time.
'I have no hesitation in saying virtually all US prisons should be torn down and that the subsidies to house inmates would be better spent on swift-employment programs, housing and healthcare. Facilities can be constructed for the few remaining who need genuine rehabilitation', he wrote in another tweet.
If your goal is to rehabilitate people and steer them away from criminal lifestyles, curious which environment would foster a better outcome.
