Woman claims Apple Watch detected her pregnancy
Much like its other products, the Apple Watch is a big hit with people. From health and fitness to alerting you of new messages and calls, the Cupertino-based company's watches serve as an extension of your iPhone.
While it is common knowledge that the Apple Watch tracks your vitals and keeps a check on your health progress, did you know it can also detect pregnancy? Well, that's what one woman has claimed.
Recently, a woman took to Reddit and revealed that her Apple Watch alerted her of increased heart rate for more than 15 days. "Usually my resting heart rate is about 57 and my heart rate has increased to 72. It's not a big jump, but it showed up on an alert that it's been higher for 15 days. I started trying to figure out why," she said.
At that moment, she presumed that she may have contracted Covid-19, but the results were negative.
She then started searching for reasons behind the accelerated heart rate in the first weeks of pregnancy. ¡°I read sometimes this happens with early pregnancy and sure enough instantly the test was positive," she wrote.
Woman says Apple Watch knew she was pregnant even before clinical test
"The watch knew I was pregnant before I knew it! I would have never ever tested without wearing my watch because I have not had a period to be late on one," she added.
"I am freaking out as I am not ready for another baby but this allows me time to consider my options and think about what I am going to do. I know this might be an offbeat use for the watch but if you¡¯re a woman of child rearing age and your watch shows a HR increase it might be worth it to test!" she further added.
The post has gone viral and garnered tons of reactions.
"This is what happened to me. My resting heart rate went up by 10-15 BPM," a user commented.
"The watch detected my COVID, I thought I was just sleep-deprived, but that morning I had a high HR and slightly lightheaded and that evening I was faint, dizzy, and super sleepy," another user wrote.
"Wow! That¡¯s incredible. Good luck with whatever you decide my friend," another user said.
