Woman Fired From Job For Not Wearing A Bra, Files Human Rights Complaint Against Employer
Christina Schell from Alberta stopped wearing a bra two years ago because she thought the garment was horrible. She was sacked for refusing to wear a bra or an undershirt while waiting tables at the golf club she works for. Her manager said it was meant to protect her from members of the club.
What should be just another piece of clothing often becomes an object of offence. Despite widespread movements like free the nipple, the concept that a woman should have the freedom to choose whether or not to wear a bra, seems to elude a large chunk of people.

In yet another blatant display of misuse of power, a woman was sacked for not wearing a bra. Christina Schell from Alberta stopped wearing a bra two years ago because she thought the garment was horrible. She was sacked for refusing to wear a bra or an undershirt while waiting tables at the golf club she works for. It was supposedly a part of the updated dress code, but when she refused to follow her manager¡¯s dictation on what she wears, she was sacked.
¡°It was absurd,¡± she said in a statement to news.com. ¡°Why do you get to dictate what¡¯s underneath my clothes?¡±
Here is the Osoyoos Golf Club restaurant dress code. It says "women must wear either a tank top or bra under their uniform." #Osoyoos pic.twitter.com/wirnRrNOYs

Her manager said it was meant to protect her from members of the club.
¡°I know what happens in golf clubs when alcohol¡¯s involved,¡± he reportedly said. We¡¯re not sure we got this right, but does that mean he had apprehensions that members would harass her for not wearing a bra? In that case, should he not be on her side and stand up for his employee instead of putting restrictions on her ¨C restrictions that are way out of line?
Anyway, Christina did not take it sitting down. The 25-year-old filed a human rights complaint against her employer because the men at the club did not have the same restrictions as women.
¡°It¡¯s gender-based and that¡¯s why it¡¯s a human rights issue,¡± she said.
¡°I have nipples and so do the men.¡±
